Personification of shadow

Drawings

As an annex to my bachelor’s diploma, this series of large-scale graphite drawings explored the human body as a collection of lines, simplifying form into its most fundamental elements.

Each drawing was composed of vertical lines—some standing alone, others clustered so closely that they formed planes. The contrast between density and openness shaped the human figure, creating a play between presence and absence, structure and void. Over time, the compositions became increasingly simplified, reducing the body to its essence.

The technique combined freehand drawing with template-based precision, allowing for a controlled yet organic approach to form. With the exception of a few wire-like outlines, the entire series relied on the verticality of lines, emphasizing the fragility and weight of the human figure through repetition and contrast.
