Fear has little eyes

Animation

For my bachelor’s degree project, I created an animated short exploring the small but persistent fears we all experience. Whether it’s the childhood terror of a monster lurking under the bed or the unsettling feeling of a pit growing in your stomach, these everyday anxieties can take on a life of their own.

The title Little Fears is a playful spin on the Polish saying “Fear has big eyes”—which suggests that we often make our fears seem larger than they really are. In this case, my take was that “fear has small eyes,” emphasizing how minor these worries can be in reality.

The animation was crafted using hand-drawn assets brought to life in After Effects, blending a personal, illustrative style with smooth digital animation. The narrative didn’t just focus on the fears themselves but also on the small solutions we find to face them—whether through logic, humor, or simple acts of courage.

This project allowed me to combine storytelling with animation, creating a visual exploration of how we deal with our inner worries, big or small.
